It is often said you are what you eat and that especially influences the state of your gums and teeth. When you often eat foods filled with starch and sugar you are not only feeding yourself but also the bacteria in your mouth which can cause teeth decay and different gum diseases. Plaque is a invisible, thin and sticky film of bacteria and other materials that cover the surface of our teeth. When starch or sugar come into contact with plaque the resulting acid can attack your teeth within 20 minutes after your meal. If you wish to improve your mouth hygiene you need to brush and floss your teeth regularly and also avoid these types of food.

Besides, they’re odten chewy which means they stick to your teeth for a longer time, so they’re more likely to speed up the decay.

Bread

You may be surprised that bread is also very bad for your teeth health. When you chew bread, your saliva breaks down the starch into sugar. Later bread is transformed into a gummy paste-like substance that often sticks to the crevices between teeth which can cause cavities.

These drinks are the biggest source of added sugar among kids and teens. They are full of sugar, but besides that most soft drinks also contain phosphoric and citric acids that are very bad for the tooth enamel.

Ice

Many people think ice is not bad for teeth since It’s made of water and doesn’t contain any sugars or additives. Chewing on hard substances can leave your teeth vulnerable and damage the enamel so we advise you to use ice ony to cool down your drinks and never for chewing.

The problem with chips is that they often get stuck in the spaces between the teeth and gums and can remain glued to the inner side of your mouth, especially when you eat it as a snack between meals.
